Unexpected contact is one of the most common ways fraudsters reach people — by email, phone, text, or social media. A little caution, every time, closes off most of it.
Suspicious emails
Be cautious of an email that creates urgency, asks for information, contains unusual links, includes an attachment you weren't expecting, or asks for money. Verify the sender independently before you click anything.
Suspicious text messages
Text scams often create fear, claim there's a problem with your account, include a link, and push you to act immediately. Don't rely only on what the text itself tells you.
Suspicious phone calls
Caller ID can be spoofed, so a familiar-looking number isn't proof of who's calling. Stay cautious on any call involving security concerns, account issues, requests for money, requests for codes, or requests for remote access to your device.
If you're unsure:
- End the call
- Contact Xe independently
Suspicious social media messages
Fraudsters create fake social media profiles and message people directly. Don't share account information over social media unless you've independently verified who you're talking to.
Report suspicious communications
Reporting helps us protect your account, protect other customers, improve how we detect scams, and stop criminals abusing our name further. It's worth reporting even if you didn't respond to the message.
The key takeaway
If a message feels unusual, unexpected, or urgent, stop and verify before you respond.
