I've sent money to the wrong recipient
If you sent money to the wrong recipient, please contact us as soon as possible.
We can't cancel a transfer that's been sent to the recipient, so we’ll speak to the receiving bank and ask them to return the money. This is called a recall request.
- If you know the recipient, you might want to contact them and ask them to return the money to you, but only if you feel safe doing so.
How recall requests work
We rely on the recipient's bank when making a recall request. We can't guarantee that the payment will be returned as they need the recipient's permission to give us a direct debit authorisation. Only if we get this can we reclaim the funds.
