What rate will I get when sending money with Xe?
When you send money with Xe, you’ll receive our send rate. This article explains what the send rate is, where to find it, and whether it can change.
What is the send rate?
The send rate is the exchange rate you receive when you send money with Xe.
It’s the rate we apply when we buy one currency and sell another on your behalf. The send rate is different to the mid-market rate which we use for our currency converter tool. It includes a margin, which forms part of our return for carrying out the exchange.
Where can I find the send rate?
You can see your send rate when you start a transfer and again before you confirm it - both in the Xe app and on the Xe website.
When you begin a transfer, you’ll see:
an initial send rate when you enter your transfer details
the final send rate on the Transfer summary screen, just before you confirm
If the send rate changes during the process, we’ll let you know so that you can review it before proceeding.
How to check the rate
It’s best to start your transfer when you’re ready to send, as this allows you to see the current rate for your specific transfer.
Select Send money on the website or Send in the app
Choose where you’re sending money to
-
Enter either:
how much you want to send, or
how much you want your recipient to receive
You’ll see the send rate underneath the amount you’re sending.
We always recommend checking the rate for your specific transfer in the app or on the website, and taking into account any fees you’ll pay when you’re comparing exchange rates between providers.
Can my send rate change?
Yes. Because we use live exchange rates, your send rate may change while you’re setting up a transfer. This can happen due to market movements.
If your send rate changes at any point before confirmation, we’ll clearly show you the updated rate so you can decide whether to continue.
Once you confirm your transfer, your send rate is fixed.
