You can get your XeSIM by scanning the QR code or tapping the ‘Get a free eSIM’ button on the Home or Convert screens in the Xe app. However you get there, just follow the on-screen steps to activate it.
Yes, the XeSIM is free to install
You can use the XeSIM in over 195 countries. Once it's installed, all you need to do is buy a plan for the country you're visiting—no need to reinstall.
Your data plan will activate as soon as you arrive at your destination. If you’re already there when you buy a plan, it will activate immediately.
With XeSIM, you’ll connect to the world’s best mobile networks, including Vodafone, AT&T, and Orange. Plus, we offer 5G coverage in over 50 countries—and we're adding more all the time.
You’ll only pay for the data bundles you buy for use while traveling.

Activating the XeSIM is free, and we don’t auto-bill. We’ll notify you when your data plan is running low, so you can decide if you want to purchase another one.
On iPhone or iPad:
  • Start by making sure your Primary SIM is turned on
  • Open Settings
  • Go to Mobile Service
  • Under SIMs, select your Primary SIM
  • Enable Turn On This Line.
  • Go back to Mobile Service > Mobile Data.
  • Select your primary SIM.
  • Make sure Allow Cellular Data Switching is toggled OFF

To switch back to your primary SIM on a Samsung device:
  • Open the Settings app on your Samsung device.
  • Scroll down and select Connections.
  • Tap on SIM card manager (or Mobile Network depending on your device).
  • Under the SIM card settings, you will see both SIMs listed.
  • Select the SIM card you want to use as your primary option from the drop-down menus next to Data.
  • Save your preferences, and you’ll be switched back to your Primary SIM.

To switch back to your primary SIM on a Google Pixel device:
  • Open the Settings app on your Google Pixel
  • Tap on Network & Internet.
  • Select SIMs (or Mobile Network). You'll see both of your SIM cards.
  • Under Mobile data, Calls, and SMS, you can select which SIM you want to use for each category. To switch back to your primary sim, choose it from the options for Mobile data. Your changes should save automatically.
You can use the XeSIM with most smartphones built after 2018, so if you've got one of the latest iPhone, Google or Samsung smartphones, it's likely to be compatible.

We recommend that you check with your phone manufacturer to make sure that your device is compatible.
Yes, it will remain active unless you delete it.

Most smartphones allow you to store multiple sims, so there’s no need to delete your XeSIM.

If you keep your XeSIM active, we’ll send you an SMS when you arrive in a country where we offer data plans. You can then purchase a plan for that country and save on roaming charges.
Please try the following steps if your XeSIM isn't working:

  • Check that you've activated your XeSIM in your phone's settings. You can do this by going to Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data > Cellular/Mobile Data and select XeSIM.
  • If you're using an Android device:
    • Make sure Data Roaming is turned on (you'll find this in your phone's settings).
    • Make sure your APN is set to truphone.com.
